Mixed Hockey Rules

Normal rules of the hockey regulated by England Hockey apply in all instances

There are no limits to the number of substitutions that can be made in a match.  ‘Roll on roll off’ is allowed.  No limits to the amount of substitutes (in the interests of widening participation!).

There can be no more than 6 males on the pitch at any one time – unless prior arrangements have been agreed.  There are no restrictions on the number of female players. (This is in the interests of promoting female sport).

There must be a minimum of 8 players from each team on the pitch at all times including a fully kitted out goalkeeper.

Matches must be at least 20 mins each way, preferably 30-35 mins.

A nominated goalkeeper must wear all protective equipment including helmet and throat guard.  Teams will not be allowed to play with a ‘kicking back’.

3 points will be awarded for a win, 2 points for a score draw and 1 point for a no-score draw.

In the event of two or more teams being level at the end of the season – the winner shall be decided on the outcome of the result when the two teams met in that season.  If that result was a draw then a play-off shall decide the winner – venue to be decided.

Both teams should agree who is to referee the game beforehand

All results must be clearly e-mailed by the HOME TEAM to the following e-mail address: results@nwcollegeleague.co.uk within 24 hours of the fixture taking place.

Only two reasons for cancellation of games are permitted;

Adverse weather conditions

Cup competitions where no other students could replace the original team to fulfil the league fixture

If a fixture has been cancelled and re-arranged then it must be played on the second date.  An attempt to get the match cancelled for a second time will result in the team who has been inconvenienced x 2 being awarded the points via a 3-0 win.

All results must be clearly e-mailed by the HOME TEAM to the following e-mail address: results@nwcollegeleague.co.uk within 24 hours of the fixture taking place.  This enables an updated league table and results onto the website.
